Hanzijo follows the reformed HSK from level 1 to level 9: the characters, words and grammar each level expects, listening and conversation practice, and HSK mock tests to check you are ready. Free to start on iPhone.
Most courses stop at the old HSK 6. Hanzijo follows the current nine-level standard, so the 3,088 characters, 10,940 words and 558 grammar points run all the way through HSK 7, 8 and 9, taught in 502 lessons that unlock in order. If you are not sure where you stand, the free HSK level test places you in five minutes.
The HSK tests your ears as much as your eyes. Hanzijo has 266 real-life conversations with play-along audio and shadowing, where speech recognition checks your pronunciation, and 108 dictation lessons cut from real Chinese videos.
When a level is nearly done, sit an HSK mock test and see your result broken down by skill, so you know whether to spend the last weeks on listening, reading or vocabulary.
Every character, word and grammar point you learn goes into a seven-stage spaced-repetition system. Hard items come back sooner and easy ones later, so the daily review stays short.
