Frequently asked questions

Which tool should I start with?

If you are new to Chinese, start with the pinyin trainer: reading the script without hesitation comes before everything else. If you already study, take the level test to see where you are, then run the counter simulator in listening mode to check whether you can follow real speech.

Are the tools free?

Yes. Every tool runs in your browser with no signup, and nothing you answer is stored or sent anywhere.

What does the Hanzijo app add?

Tools measure; the app builds. Hanzijo gives you the full path with an exclusive mnemonic for every word, a 7-stage SRS that times each review, conversation lessons with shadowing, dictation, an OCR scanner, and home, lock screen and quiz widgets.
